Walk Description
Please note: This walk requires you to cross the River Ure on stepping stones. Please take care and beware of the river level.
- From the car park, facing the river, walk to your left and head straight forward to the Upper Falls.
- Follow the path as it loops round to the left
- Head right as you rejoin the path you started on.
- As you get close to the road, Church Bank, take the path to the right onto the road.
- Walk along the road and leave it on a footpath on your right.
- Keep to the right on this path and head down to see the Middle Falls
- Retrace your steps back up from the Middle Falls and head right on the footpath.
- Walk along the path, and take the path to the right as it forks into two paths, down to the Lower Falls.
- After the Lower Falls continue on the path beyond a path on the left and follow it round as it goes sharply left.
- At the end of this path, head right
- Follow this path forwards, ignoring the path coming off to the right
- Continue past Hollins House and on to Low Lane
- A footpath breaks off to the right on Low Lane – take this.
- As it meets another footpath, head right.
- As you head along the footpath take the path that heads to the right.
- Walk along the footpath, ignoring 2 footpaths which intersect this path.
- The third path that goes off to the right, called Watery Lane, is the one you want to take.
- Take this path across the River Ure, at which point there is a path to the left, to the right and straight ahead – take the one straight ahead.
- When you reach the A684- cross the road, head to the left and then take the footpath on your right.
- Follow the footpath forward as it is intersected by another.
- Keep to the right as the path curves, ignoring the footpaths that go off to the left.
- At the end of the path head to the right, ignoring a footpath that goes off to the left.
- You’re on Morpeth Lane – keep heading forward until you reach the B6160
- Head right onto the B6160 then left onto Eshington Lane
- After the bend in the road to the right, there is a footpath on the left- take it.
- Take this path straight on to the A684
- Cross the A684 and head down Church Lane
- Head through the church grounds at the end of the lane then past Yore Mill and back onto Church Bank.
