Walk Route

  1. Starting from the station you walk underneath the tracks and follow the footpath onto Cop Royd.
  2. Walk to the end of Cop Royd – on the opposite side of the road is another road that goes off in the opposite direction, cross Woodroyd Avenue and head down this road.
  3. On the left side of this road is a footpath – take this footpath.
  4. At the end of this footpath you might another – take this footpath to the right.
  5. As you walk along this footpath you will come across a lot of other paths going off to the right, you need to keep to the leftmost path.
  6. This path takes you all the way to Honley Road, which you then need to take right – heading into Farnley Tyas.
  7. Just after the Golden Cock pub take the footpath off to the left.
  8. This path forks into 2 separate paths – take the rightmost path.
  9. Keep going forward on this path, ignoring a footpath that goes off to the left in Molly Carr Wood and another which goes off to the right after Molly Carr Wood.
  10. You end up on Lumb Lane, head to the right and then left back onto another footpath.
  11. Follow this footpath forward to Castle Hill and Victoria Tower – take a break from the map here and have a wander around.
  12. Back to the walk, at the bottom of the steps from Victoria Tower you should be on Castle Hill Side, head left and then onto Lumb Lane.
  13. When you’re on Lumb Lane look out for a footpath on your right – take it.
  14. Follow the footpath forwards, ignoring a footpath on your left, followed by one on your right, followed by two more on your left.
  15. You will head down the side of Castle House Farm – keep on this footpath.
  16. Look out for a footpath going off right, take this – the site of the former POW Camp from WWII will be on your left.
  17. The end of this footpath takes you onto Hey Lane.
  18. Go to the right and then take the next footpath off to the left before Hey Lane Cemetery.
  19. Follow this path forwards onto Northgate and then head right around Northgate and then left back to the station.
